DAVID TRETHEWEY
David Trethewey passed away on Wednesday 11th June 2003.
David spent nearly 45 years in the Pea & Bean business. After 29 years at Charles Sharpe & Co. Ltd. (before they became Advanta) he left to begin his own business. Over the years David was involved in the introduction of new exciting varieties including Puget, Waverex (petit pois), Banff and Progreta (protein pea) to name but a few.
Latterly, he spent more time involved with Sleaford Development Group, North Kesteven Credit Union and others, he had been a District Councillor on North Kesteven District Council and was a serving Councillor on Sleaford Town Council, holding the position of Mayor when he died.
David will be sadly missed both by people within the trade and outside it. Not only was he a great source of knowledge and experience but he was a great friend.
The company he established will continue and, hopefully, will develop in the way David intended.
The David Trethewey Memorial Fund
has been established which aims to improve access and enjoyment of the river Slea environment where local townspeople can enjoy a few quiet moments on the riverbank. The Rauceby Banks Project is an ongoing scheme involving local children, local council and residents. Contributions may be sent via our office address.
